I was on BBC Radio 3 this week talking about the wonderful Vasari Singers, and you can hear it at the link below, along with an excerpt of Gabriel Jackson's I am the Voice of the Wind.

25th August 2014

As ever, it is far too long since I have updated this news page - the main thing being that the trip to America was BRILLIANT - met lots of wonderful people/musicians - Margaret Carpenter, Tina Zenker Williams (two fabulous sopranos), Dr George Riordan (remarkable baroque oboist and ex Director of Music at Middle Tennesee State University), Murray and Hazel Somerville (family but still deserve a mention for their gorgeous organ and harpisichord musicianship!) - as well as many others, and performed in hugely memorable and stunning concerts.

Hoping very much to return to State-side some time in the near future,  such musical and friendly people, and incredible musicianship throughout.

Singing at lots of weddings this summer, and planning a charity fundraising event for the autumn, details tbc!

Finally, very much looking forward to the concert launch of the next Vasari Singers cd on 28th November. Repertoire includes The Vivaldi Gloria, the Pizzetti Requiem, and the gorgeous Allegri Miserere, with some little extra nuances to that well known solo line.....

More soon!

17th March 2014

Getting very excited - after a brilliant Messiah with Birkenhead Choral Society last weekend, next Thursday I am off to the States for 4 concerts! It is a lovely mix of Handel, Charpentier, Couperin, Bach, plus much more. Not sure if I'll get a chance for much sightseeing, but if you have any suggestions, let me know!

15th January 2014

I am very pleased to announce that I am off to America for a short tour of North Carolina in March! More details to follow, but I am currently booked in for four concerts!

22nd December 2013

So after a very busy year, I am resolved to be better with my updates starting in January! See you all then! :-)

15th January 2013

After a wonderful December full of singing, both solo and ensemble, I am looking forward to a busy 2013. Very excitingly, I already have plans to sing in London, Durham, Canterbury, Hampshire and Liverpool - and its not even the end of January! Looking forward to what the rest of the year brings! Also, follow me on Twitter for updates on the move - @JoceSom1

Happy New Year!

25th July 2012

Ever a choral evensong enthusiast, I am currently taking part in a week of choral singing in Dorset. The annual course, Laudemus, is led by ex Kings Singer, conductor and composer, Jeremy Jackman, and takes Evensong to different churches around Dorset. Thankfully the weather is currently holding out, so as well as singing, there will also doubtless be a bit of sunbathing to fit in!

2nd July 2012

I am thrilled to have been selected to receive a Choral Scholarship at St Martin-in-the-Fields, commencing in October 2012. Through the programme, I will be one of ten scholars appointed each year to sing Choral Eucharist at 1pm and Choral Evensong at 5pm each Wednesday during term time, as well as receiving an extensive programme of training in different aspects of church and choral music. More information about St Martin-in-the-Fields can be found on their website - www.smitf.org

2nd October 2012

I took part in a wonderful concert with the Vasari Singers at St Martin in the Fields on the 28th September with the Southbank Sinfonia. The programme included Paul Mealor, Bob Chilcott, Handel, and others. A video of a rehearsal is available on youtube!
